On October 28, 2025, the Israeli airline AI Israeli Airlines officially resumed direct flights between Tel Aviv and Baku, opening a new chapter in the history of air connectivity between Israel and Azerbaijan.
Previously, this route was operated by the national carrier AZAL, which played a key role in strengthening business and tourism ties between Baku and Tel Aviv. Now, with AI joining AZAL, an expanded air bridge has been created — one that elevates cooperation between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
A Union of Two Cultures Over the Caspian Sky
The resumption of Arkia’s flights is more than just a logistical milestone — it is a diplomatic signal. Over the Caspian skies, Hebrew and Azerbaijani can once again be heard — symbols of friendship, openness, and human connection, stronger than any political declaration.
The route connects tourism, cultural, and business sectors, demonstrating that Israel and Azerbaijan can act in harmony and cooperate effectively.
Economy and Tourism
Since the launch of Arkia’s flights, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in traveling to Baku. Tourists have actively booked hotels, excursions, and culinary tours, while business circles have scheduled meetings and events.
Joint operations by AZAL and Arkia have already boosted tourist flow from Israel by nearly 40% within the first few weeks, providing a tangible stimulus to Azerbaijan’s economy and a new impulse for both nations’ tourism industries.

Diplomacy Through Aviation
The air routes between Tel Aviv and Baku have become a tool of “soft power.” They not only carry passengers but also connect ideas, technologies, and cultures.
Every flight operated by AI and AZAL serves as a symbol of trust and strategic partnership — where aviation becomes an extension of practical diplomacy.
It was no coincidence that the first resumed flight was personally welcomed by Ronen Kraus, Israel’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, who wished success in the continued expansion of bilateral relations
