Yakov Kedmi (formerly Kazakov) is a Soviet-born former Israeli diplomat and ex-intelligence officer. In the 1990s, he headed the "Nativ" organization, which was responsible for facilitating the repatriation of Jews from former Soviet countries to Israel. This role gave him a prominent position within state structures at the time, but he currently holds no official government position.

In recent years, Yakov Kedmi has become known primarily as a political commentator and analyst on Russian television. He frequently appears on Russian state media, offering strong and sometimes controversial opinions on geopolitical issues. This has occasionally led to confusion among the public and the media, with some assuming that he speaks on behalf of the Israeli government.

However, this is not the case. Yakov Kedmi does not officially represent the State of Israel. He has not held any diplomatic or governmental position for many years. Today, he operates as an independent analyst, and the views he expresses are solely his own. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stated that Kedmi’s remarks do not reflect the official position of the State of Israel.

Therefore, it is important for both the public and media professionals to understand that his statements are made in a personal capacity and that he has no official affiliation with the Israeli government.
