On December 24, in Baku, within the framework of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty,” the Second Forum of Religious Leaders of Azerbaijan is being held on the topic
“Constitutional Principles of State-Religion Relations in Azerbaijan: Secularism and Freedom of Conscience.”
The Forum brings together delegations from Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, representatives of relevant state institutions, various religious denominations operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as faculty members of religious educational institutions, theologians, scholars, and experts.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by the screening of a video dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War.
Delivering the opening speech, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Ramin Mammadov, stated that today’s event represents the logical continuation of an important tradition established in 2024 and serves as an indicator of the healthy and sustainable development of state-religion relations. The address by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the participants of last year’s Forum covered several key directions in terms of its ideological content and conceptual significance. The strategic goals outlined in that address have shaped the agenda of activities over the past period. The time that has passed clearly demonstrates that the objectives emphasized by the President constitute a perfect roadmap for systematic and consistent action and should remain the main reference point for future steps.
In addition, the Forum features panel discussions devoted to the topics:
“The System of Multicultural Values: Legal and Cultural Aspects of State-Religion Relations,”
“Religious Education and Enlightenment Strategies in the Digital Information Environment,”
“Educating Youth in the Context of Global Influences: Modern Methods and Innovative Approaches,” and
“The Role of Religious Communities in the Social and Spiritual Development of Women,”
during which key directions of state policy in the religious sphere and current issues were discussed.
